What to wear, what music plays, and what the vibe is like

Dress codes, music styles, and what to expect inside.

Por Rita Kandela · Cronista de la noche

The second most common question after price is what to wear. Short answer: wear whatever lets you dance for three hours.

What people wear, what's playing, and what happens on stage.

Is there a dress code?

No. At JOLIE you can walk in wearing joggers, a matching tracksuit, a t-shirt, and sneakers worn thin from all the dancing.

Can I get in with a cap on?

Yes. Caps get in. Not once in JOLIE's history has a cap been turned away.

Can I wear athletic wear?

Yes, no problem. Nobody's checking your outfit; what matters is how you dance.

Can I go all dressed up?

Also fine. Both extremes coexist on the same dance floor, and neither looks out of place.

What music do they play?

Pop, perreo (reggaeton), and electronic are the backbone of queer nightlife in Buenos Aires, with variations depending on the night and the DJ.

Are there shows?

Yes: drag shows, karaoke, and games are part of the format, not an occasional extra.

Who are the DJs?

Local queer DJs and artists. At FEMME, specifically, the lineup is lesbian DJs.

Can I request a song?

Depends on the DJ and the moment in the night. On karaoke nights, you just sing it yourself.

What is Pop vs Perreo?

It's one of FEL!ZA's regular nights, built around those two worlds.

What's the vibe like?

It's a party of the LGBTIQ+ community and for the community, not a regular club that happens to let queer people in that night. That difference shows once you're inside.

Is there a place to sit or talk?

FEL!ZA, being a cultural club with several rooms, has more spots to take a breather than a club with a single dance floor.

Can I take photos?

Yes, with judgment: the unwritten rule of any queer space is don't film anyone who doesn't want to be filmed.
